About

Caitriona Forsyth is a Contemporary Irish Artist based on the south coast of England.

“I work intuitively, using a call and response approach. My process begins with a series of marks, each one a response to the previous. I use various different implements; trowels, palette knives, silicone scrapers, tools, sandpaper and brushes to achieve layers and depth, a push and pull flow of layering and scraping back, often encompassing the passage of time.

My influences are varied; a momentary event, a dance, a piece of music, a poem, the depiction of someone or something in it’s natural environment, a moment of juxtaposition, a realistic landscape, the human form or an emotive response. My technique can render realistic forms or scenes, familiar outlines or abstract expression”.

Caitriona has received much recognition for her work, to include being Longlisted for ArtEvol by Saatchi Gallery London, reaching the Extended Longlist for the Jackson Art Prize and being Shortlisted for the RISE Emerging Artist Prize, Henley. Caitriona exhibits extensively, visit the events page for more information on her upcoming shows.

Paintings shown are photographs of original artwork. Although every effort has been made to display the closest representation of the artwork, colours, definition and texture may differ from the image shown. This is due to the nature of photographs, the display of images on a computer screen and cropping adjustments required for display.
